Ottava: In a first of its kind, Canada’s ruling Liberal Party led by Justin Trudeau faced an angry crowd of protesters, which surrounded campaign buses and diatribed Trudeau during a campaign even in Cambridge.

The party’s event got delayed for over two hours as agitators choked the entrance to the local sheet metal business where Liberal leader made his first major climate announcement as his re-election effort.

Canada is now two weeks into a national election campaign for the September 20 snap polls and this might become a concerning for the Liberal as the party’s rally in Bolton, Ont., was cancelled due to security reasons from another angry crowd.

Trudeau has been facing protest from a group of protesters since he had commences his re-election campaign.

Trudeau attempted to pacify the protesters and said he apprehend that Covid-19 pandemic has manifold fear and anxiety in many but he condemned any threats or use of violence, racism and bigotry.

“People who decline to accept science around vaccine and climate change are not ones, who are going to dictate, how Canada moves forward, he said.”

Trudeau continued to speak even though he was difficult to hear at times over the tumultuous of crowd and expletive-filled slogans aimed at the Liberal leader.

Some also carried signs which carried a photo of Trudeau about to be executed by hanging.

A agitator also hurled a racist slur at a Black officer in Trudeau’s security detail and a misogynist insult at a female officer. Following which, police physically carried one woman off the private property when she refused to move back.

“The time was tough during Covid-19 but let me assure you that I am absolutely resolute in my conviction to continue to move Canada forward. And that’s the choice people get to make in this election,” he said in his speech. Meanwhile, Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole and NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh both condemned the angry crowds and called on people to be respectful.

Ottava: The principal opposition of the ruling Liberal Party in Canada, Conservative Party’s candidate Erin O’Toole for the first time is leading the campaign, in voter preference, according to a number of surveys.

The Conservative Party has made recent gains compared with incumbent PM Trudeau’s Liberals as per the recent poll predictions. This is less than two weeks after Trudeau called an early election in a bid to get a parliamentary majority.

Trudeau precipitated snap elections on August 15 in an attempt to convert his minority government into a majority, but as things stand, the Liberals may actually capture fewer seats in the new parliament than they did in 2019, the poll surveys indicate.

O’Toole was favoured by 33.3 percent of eligible voters, according to a tracking survey released on Saturday by Nanos Research that was conducted for CTV News and The Globe and Mail newspaper. The Liberal Party had 30.8 percent support, a difference just within the poll’s margin of error but which nevertheless reflects a steady swing away from the Liberals in recent days.

“What was a tie early this week, it looks like the Conservatives are now gaining the upper hand and there is definitely negative pressure on the Liberals right now,” Nik Nanos, founder and chief data scientist at Nanos Research, told CTV News on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Trudeau also faced an angry crowd of protesters on Sunday, which surrounded campaign buses and castigated Trudeau during a campaign even in Cambridge. He had to cancel his rally in Bolton, Ont., was cancelled due to security reasons from another angry crowd.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama and new Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday ended a frosty period in bilateral ties by agreeing to tackle climate change and strive to settle a long-lasting trade dispute over Canadian softwood lumber exports.

<img decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-1716" src="http://ubiqtv.com/storage/2016/03/2016-03-10T214149Z_3_LYNXNPEC2912E_RTROPTP_4_USA-CANADA-SUMMIT-1024x683.jpg" alt="U.S. President Barack Obama (R) shakes hands with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (L) during the arrival ceremony at the White House in Washington March 10, 2016. REUTERS/Jonathan Ernst

The neighboring countries are traditionally close but relations had soured under former prime minister Stephen Harper, who hectored the White House in a failed bid to push through U.S. approval for the Keystone XL oil pipeline.

Obama and Trudeau, whose Liberals came to power last November promising better cooperation with Washington, pledged joint steps to fight global warming, including cutting methane emissions from oil and gas operations.

<img decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-1717" src="http://ubiqtv.com/storage/2016/03/2016-03-10T214149Z_3_LYNXNPEC2912V_RTROPTP_4_USA-CANADA-SUMMIT-1024x754.jpg" alt="U.S. First lady Michelle Obama (R) and Sophie Gregoire Trudeau (L) laugh at the official arrival ceremony at the White House in Washington March 10, 2016. REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque

The countries committed to cutting emissions of methane by 40 to 45 percent below 2012 levels by 2025, to take steps to fight climate change in the Arctic, and to speed development of green technologies.

They also told officials to look for solutions to a lengthy dispute over exports of Canadian softwood lumber, as well as promising to make it easier for goods and people to cross the long shared border.

“I am grateful that I have him as a partner … When it comes to the central challenges that we face, our two nations are more closely aligned than ever,” Obama told a news conference after talks with Trudeau.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-1718" src="http://ubiqtv.com/storage/2016/03/2016-03-10T214149Z_3_LYNXNPEC2912Y_RTROPTP_4_USA-CANADA-SUMMIT-1024x675.jpg" alt="U.S. President Barack Obama (R) and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (L) greet guests during an official arrival ceremony at the White House in Washington March 10, 2016. REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque

“The President and I agree on many things including, of paramount importance, the direction we want to take our countries in to ensure a clean and prosperous future,” said Trudeau.

In another sign of friendlier bilateral ties, Trudeau invited Obama to address the Canadian Parliament this year.

Americans have been captivated by the photogenic Trudeau, 44, whose father, Pierre Trudeau, was prime minister from 1968 through 1979, and again from 1980 to 1984.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-1721" src="http://ubiqtv.com/storage/2016/03/2016-03-11T025700Z_1_LYNXNPEC2A03U_RTROPTP_4_USA-CANADA-SUMMIT-1024x722.jpg" alt="Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau toasts U.S. President Barack Obama during a state dinner at the White House in Washington March 10, 2016. REUTERS/Joshua Roberts

His visit will be capped by a state dinner on Thursday but that could be overshadowed by the race to succeed Obama in November’s presidential election. Candidates for the Republican nomination will hold a debate on Thursday night.

Trudeau declined to say what he would do in case the next president was Donald Trump, who has mused about tearing up the North American Free Trade Agreement.

“The friendship between our two countries goes far beyond any two individuals or any ideologies,” he said.

“I have tremendous confidence in the American people, and look forward to working with whomever they choose to send to this White House later this year.”

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="size-large wp-image-1720" src="http://ubiqtv.com/storage/2016/03/2016-03-10T214149Z_3_LYNXNPEC2912D_RTROPTP_4_USA-CANADA-SUMMIT-1024x689.jpg" alt="U.S. President Barack Obama (R) and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau walk down the White House colonnade past the Rose Garden as they take part in an official arrival ceremony for Trudeau at the White House in Washington March 10, 2016.
