The start was delayed due to heavy overnight rain.
The umpires made an inspection of the pitch at 9.30 am IST and then at 10.30 am.The second Test match between India and New Zealand will start at noon on Friday.
The toos will take place at 11.30 am. There will be 78 over in the day.
Early lunch has been taken. The second session will be from noon to 2.40 pm, tea at 2.40 pm and the final session from 3 pm to 5.30 pm.
