Kapurthala: Senior Superintendent of Police Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh would be conferred the President’s Police Medal Award for his meritorious service from President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
Khakh was awarded with the Chief Minister Award for displaying commendable work and devotion towards duty by the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh during his stint as AIG Counter Intelligence Jalandhar zone on January 26, 2021.
A decorated police officer HPS Khakh has played an important role in busting a number of criminal and terrorist modules in the state besides eliminating gang culture from Punjab in the last few years.
Apart from this due to commitment towards wiping out the drug menace from Punjab, he launched a war against the drug peddlers and busted several international, inter-state drug rackets and put the perpetrators behind the bars.
It is pertinent to mention here that a team led by HPS Khakh at Phagwara in 2009 had seized 50-kg heroine, is still remembered as the highest recovery in Punjab.
Khakh had joined the Punjab Police in 1994 as an Inspector and in the year 2016, he was promoted to the rank of SSP. Prior to the promotion, he was posted in the rank of inspectors, DSPs and SPs in different districts of Punjab. He was awarded with DGP commendation disc twice on the basis of excellent performance.
On award, SSP said he was feeling proud as well as humbled and dedicating this medal to his late father Harjit Singh Khakh who was also a brave cop of Punjab police and served up to the rank of Superintendent of Police Punjab (SP).
Khakh said “I am very happy and grateful to the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Dinkar Gupta ji and Government of Punjab for selecting me for this prestigious award”.
