SC to form probe panel headed by retired judge in PM Modi’s security breach

New Delhi: To probe the security breach incident during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab, the Supreme Court on Monday said that it would appoint a committee headed by a retired judge of the apex court.

The incident occurred on January 5, which has shocked the world and led to a political turmoil across the country.

“We are thinking on these lines. A retired apex court judge to head the committee that would be the same like before…Also IG, Intelligence of Punjab,” a bench headed by Chief Justice of India N V Ramana said.

Earlier, Bench, consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Hima Kohli, also allowed both the Centre and the state to conduct their individual inquires into the matter.
