Rishi Sunak gets support from 100 Conservative leaders, UK frontrunner in PM race

London: Once again, elections for the post of Prime Minister in Britain are to be held. After the resignation of Liz Truss, the political stir here has intensified.

However, it seems to be directly benefiting Rishi Sunak of Indian origin. He is currently leading the race. Apart from him, Boris Johnson and senior cabinet member Penny Mordaunt are in the fray.

Liz Truss resigned as prime minister on Thursday and the country has to re-elect its Prime Minister. There are many names in the race for the post of PM, but the two names that are leading are Indian-origin Rishi Sunak and former Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The biggest thing is that Sunak has won the race for the nomination process. He has got the support of 100 Conservative leaders needed for nomination. October 24 is the last day for filing nominations. After Liz’s resignation, the ruling Conservative Party will have to be sworn in as the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in a week.

Obviously, the party will have to complete the election process and do the work of selecting the leader fast.

According to the survey, if elections are held in Britain today, then the Conservative Party can be a big defeat. So the party does not want elections. There may be many faces in the PM race, but Rishi Sunak’s deep political penetration has raised expectations.

He was constantly reaching out to the people during the recent elections. This is also one of the reasons why somewhere he will still be at the forefront of people’s minds as a candidate.
