New Delhi: Olympic medallist P V Sindhu advanced to the semi-finals of the Spain Masters badminton tournament in Madrid, while Kidambi Srikanth lost.
Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Mia Blishfeldt 21-14, 21-17. Srikanth lost 18-21, 15-21 to top seed Kenta Nishimoto of Japan in the quarterfinals of the men’s singles.
This is Srikanth’s third defeat against Kenta. Sindhu, seeded second, was trailing 6-12 in the second game but fought back to beat Mia. Sindhu will take on unseeded Singapore’s Yeo Jia Min in the semifinals.
