Punjab Police brings four arrested members of ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit to Dibrugarh

Chandigarh: Four arrested members of ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit led by pro-Khalistan activist Amritpal Singh were today brought to Dibrugarh in Assam by the Punjab Police after they were arrested from Punjab.

Giving this information, police officials said that the four arrested activists of the organization were brought to Dibrugarh by a special plane. The four men are currently lodged in Dibrugarh central jail, a police official said.

He did not give further details in this regard. “A 27-member contingent of Punjab Police, including IG Prisons, accompanied the four activists when they were brought in,” the sources said.

They were escorted forward from the Mohanbari airport amid tight security arrangements under the leadership of Dibrugarh DC and SSP. The reasons for bringing Amritpal Singh’s associates to Assam are yet to be ascertained.

The police are not willing to say anything in this regard. Inspector General of Police and Assam Police spokesperson Prashant Kumar Bhuyan said they were not aware of any development in this regard.
