Chandigarh: The Punjab government has once again removed Manisha Gulati as Chairperson of the Punjab State Commission for Women. The government issued notification to withdraw Gulati’s extension as Women’s Commission Chairperson.
Earlier, the state government had removed Manisha Gulati from her post recently. Later, Gulati had approached the High Court against the orders of the government, after which the government took a U-turn and withdrew its order and reinstated Manisha Gulati on the post.
The term of the post of chairperson of the Women’s Commission was extended by the previous Congress government.
The orders for this extension were issued on September 18, 2020, by the Captain Government of the Congress, but now this order has been withdrawn through a notification issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of the Social Security and Women and Child Development Department of Punjab on March 7, 2023.
