Chandigarh: PCS officers in Punjab will now work on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as well. The main reason for this is that they have gone on strike in the past.
During the strike, not only did people have to face problems, but many works were stuck. Since their strike is now over, they have increased the additional responsibility of completing the stalled work. So they will now work on holidays as well.
In fact, PCS officers had announced a strike. In view of the complaints of the people and the stalled work, CM Bhagwant Mann had given a strict ultimatum to the officers to return to work. Following this, the PCS officer returned to work. Now, officers will complete these pending tasks on weekends.
CM had warned to return to duty
Recently, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had named IAS and PCS officers in the case registered in the Punjab Industrial Plot Allotment Scam case and a corruption case. Along with this, 7 officers were also arrested. Angered by this action, IAS officers collectively stopped working and PCS officers also went on strike.
The CM also assured the officers of fair action in the matter, but if they did not return from the strike, CM Mann had threatened to suspend the protesting officers.
