Netanyahu’s troubles mount: Israel pilots reserve Air Force refuse training

New Delhi: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is getting embroiled in the issue of judicial reforms. Thousands of people in the country are opposing these reforms as a step towards dictatorship.

Now the Air Force has also joined it.

Reserve pilots of the Israeli Air Force have refused to take part in special training. Of the 40 reserve pilots, 37 have said they will take part in protests against judicial reforms rather than training.

According to the Times of Israel report, 37 out of 40 pilots have refused to participate in the special training session. This session is going to start next week. These pilots have informed their reporting officer i.e. commander about the decision. All the pilots are members of Squadron 69 of the Air Force.

This unit operates the unit of advanced fighter jet F-15. It is also called thunderbird. This unit is mostly tasked with missions that are long-range.

How important 69 units are can be gauged from the fact that in 2007, the same unit had demolished Syria’s nuclear reactors. Currently, this unit carries out operations in Iran and Syria. The same is the case with attacks against Iran’s terrorist organization Hezbollah.
