Jalandhar: Former revenue minister and senior Akali leader Bikram Majithia on Monday hit out at Punjab PPCC President Navjot Singh Sidhu for ‘fake’ promises of power supply at Rs 3 per unit.
Majithia, while referring to Sidhu’s actions at Independence Day’s function, said, “It was disgraceful what he did on the stage. Sidhu has failed Mithun Chakraborty’s dance. Nobody has seen such an inferior President till now.”
“I appeal Captain Amarinder Singh to hand over CM’s seat to Sidhu otherwise he might suffer a brain haemorrhage. Give Sidhu whatever he wants as he is power-hungry and does not care about the welfare of people,” Majithia said while addressing media persons on the sidelines of an event to pay tributes to Shaheed Karnail Singh Isru on his death anniversary.
He questioned Sidhu’s denial to become power minister of the state and said that though he had an opportunity to provide this relief to the people two years back as power minister, he did not assume charge and now marking baseless promises to people.
He welcomed Jalandhar Cantonment MLA Jagbir Brar, who had rejoined Akali Dal on Monday after quitting the Congress. SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal announced his party’s Cantonment candidate for the upcoming assembly elections.
He said that Sidhu was never serious about resolving people’s grievances and was only interested in befooling the people of Punjab.
“Congress party had failed to fulfill even a single poll-promise and the party has spoiled future of Punjab as no development has been done in past four years,” he said.
