Modi attacks Congress, says family-run parties biggest threat to democracy

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Rajya Sabha and launched fierce attack on opposition.

Blaming Congress for doing atrocities on people during Emergency, he said that even Singer Kishor Kumar was harassed during emergency.

He said that former PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had sent Majrooh Sultanpuri to jail for criticising Nehru.

Lata Mangeshkar’s brother Hridyanath was removed from All India Radio for making a composition on the poetry of Veer Savarkar, PM alleged adding that Nehru did not send amey to Goa when protesters were fired at by colonial government.

Reacting to to Rahul Gandhi’s recent statement, Modi said that India us Union of States and states are carved out for better administration. India is one and united.

“If anyone have objection to word nation then they can change the name of their party and make it Indian Federal Congress,” PM said.

“Emergency would not have happened, genocide against Sikhs, corruption, regionalism would have not happened if Mahatma Gandhi dismantle Congress after the Independence as he wanted to do it, he said during his speech.

“Congress’s problem is that they can not think beyond the family. We have empowered our mother and sisters in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogating Article 370,” PM said.
