Liquor will be available at shops in Punjab, 77 shops to be opened in the state

Chandigarh: The Punjab government is going to open beer and liquor shops in the cities across Punjab from April 1. At present, 77 beer and liquor shops are going to open. People can now buy beer and liquor from the shop rather than going to liquor vends. Therefore, the government stated that in this way the income of the government will increase.

The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved the excise policy for the year 2023-24. Under this policy, in the year 2023-24, an increase of Rs 1004 crore, there is a target to collect Rs 9754 crore. VAT on liquor sold by beer bars, clubs and microbrewery was reduced to 13 per cent and 10 per cent surcharge

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that beer and liquor shops are being opened only in the cities from April 1 and this will increase the income of the government.
