Kejriwal’s Hindutva card: Asks govt to print Lakshmi-Ganesh photo on currency, BJP attacks

New Delhi: Playing Hindutva card ahead of Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh Assembly elections, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday demanded to print picture of Lakshmi-Ganesh on the Indian currency to robust the economy. Now a lot of controversy has started about this statement.

Taking a dig at CM Kejriwal’s statement, the BJP hits back and said that these people are not those who worship God but people who remove them.

Senior BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain targeted the Delhi CM and said that Kejriwal has removed Gandhiji’s photo from behind him.

On the other hand, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra termed the Delhi CM’s statement as a farce. He said that a minister has made fun of gods and goddesses and today he is trying to become a Hindu. Sambit Patra asked the question, “What kind of hypocrisy are these people doing? This is the same Kejriwal ji who had said that I will not go to temple to worship lord Ram.”

But today Kejriwal is taking a U-turn. He had worked to sweep the swastika symbol. His tweet is still with us, today he is the same Arvind Kejriwal is saying such things.

Ganesh-Lakshmi picture on notes: Kejriwal

Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said during a press conference on Wednesday that the pictures of Ganesh and Lakshmi along with Mahatma Gandhi should be put on the notes. He said that on the one hand, where the country’s currency is weakening, the economy is also in doldrums. Whenever we get caught in a crisis, we remember God. Recently, in Deepawali, we all worshiped Shri Lakshmi and Shri Ganesh.

Kejriwal further said that in such a situation, my appeal is that along with the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the picture of Shri Lakshmi and Shri Ganesh ji should be put on the other side on Indian currency i.e. notes. During this, Kejriwal said that the picture of Gandhiji on the note should remain the same as it is, but the picture of the gods should be put on one side.
