Kapurthala: District police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked a blind murder case after arresting two persons with one country made .12 bore pistol and two live cartridges from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Deepak alias Jaggi of Ramgarh, Bholath and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi resident of Kamrai of the district.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that MC Kuldeep Singh, owner of Western Union at Kamrai village in Bholath, was shot dead by six unidentified youths in a loot bid.
SSP said that two youths came inside his shop and started talking to him about ordering money from abroad. On suspicion Kuldeep Singh grabbed a suspect by the throat then they call their accomplices and one of the accused shot Kuldeep Singh with a pistol on his right thigh with the intention of killing him and looted. They fled to the Bhogpur side on a scooter. During the investigation, various teams were formed to trace and arrest the culprits of the case.
During interrogation, the accused Deepak alias Jaggi said that he was involved in the incident with his relative Jas alias Yuvraj Sabharwal of Gali Ghumiaranwali, Majitha Road Amritsar and Shiv who is Jas’s friend and along with three other unidentified youths, about whom Jas knows well. Gurpreet had told him to do recce earlier and he had called his fellow accused from Amritsar who joined them in the incident.
Accused Gopi said that two cases of murder and robbery of cash van have already been registered against him in Bhogpur police station, Jalandhar district and he has come out on bail in the murder case and one case has been registered in Kotwali police station under NDPS ACT in District Kapurthala, said Khakh.
Jaggi said that he was also booked in Kartarpur police station on charges of looting of Kartarpur financier and two cases of illegal pistol and one theft in Bholath police station.
During the investigation, it was also found that the fugitive accused Jas alias Yuvraj Sabharwal has been convicted of murder in Chheharta police station under Amritsar Commissionerate and cases have been registered against him in Majitha Road police station and other police stations for two different offences.
Police are also conducting raids in Amritsar to nab the absconding accused, he added.
