New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Surat East assembly seat in Gujarat Kanchan Jariwala today withdrew the nomination papers and the party alleged that the BJP kidnapped Jariwala and pressurised her to withdraw her nomination. The BJP has denied the allegation.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told a press conference in Delhi that Jariwala and his family members have been missing since Tuesday.
AAP state unit president Gopal Italia claimed Jariwala had reached the returning officer’s office today amid heavy police security to withdraw his candidature under pressure from the ruling party and was surrounded by “BJP goons”.
He said that when the media questioned Jariwala, people in the vicinity immediately took him away.
