Chandigarh: A case of allegedly leaking videos of girls in the Hostel of Chandigarh University in Mohali has come to light. A girl living in the hostel is accused of making the video. The police have arrested the accused girl and the matter is being investigated.
After getting information about the matter, a large number of students gathered in the university campus at night and protested. In the video, a huge crowd of students can be seen protesting on the campus and shouting “We want justice”. The police reached the spot and tried to pacify the students.
Mohali SSP Vivek Soni said that a case was reported that some girls objectionable videos went viral on social media following this the students protested. An FIR has been registered in the case and the accused has been arrested. “The matter is currently being investigated. I appeal to you not to pay heed to any kind of rumors.”
At the same time, it was being claimed on social media that many girls had also tried to commit suicide. However, the student welfare officer said only one girl had fainted. After which she was admitted to the hospital. Where his condition is said to be stable. At the same time, the SSP said that according to medical records, no girl has died. It’s just a rumour.
Punjab Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer said, “It is really saddening to know about the unfortunate incident at Chandigarh University. Since this matter is very sensitive, it is my request not to forward any unsubstantiated news. There is no news of suicide by any girl student. I assure justice to University students especially girls. The DC Mohali and SSP have been ordered to conduct a thorough enquiry into the entire incident. Guilty would not be spared.”
