Chandigarh: Amid rising fuel prices in the country, former Punjab minister and senior Akali leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema urged Union government to reduce the toll tax charges for consumers to provide them some relief.
He said that instead of providing relief to citizens, BJP-led union government is also going to hike the toll tax charges across the country.
Oli marketing companies have raised the prices of petrol and diesel for the ninth time in the last 10 days and it has crossed over Rs 100 across the country.
Moreover, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has also announced to increase the toll tax from Rs 10 to Rs 65.
“Keeping in view the soaring oil prices, the state as well as union govts should have lowered toll tax to give some relief to the public but instead of lowering, they have rubbed the salt on their wounds by further increasing the toll tax. Very insensitive decision,” Cheema said.
