New Delhi: Congress has released its final of remaining eight candidates to contest Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections on Sunday.
Congress fielded Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi from Bhadaur segment while sitting MLA Sukhpal Singh Bhullar to contest from Khem Karan.
The state will go to polls on February 20 while counting of votes will be undertaken on March 10. MLA Sukhpal was facing heat from his elder brother and senior Congress leader Anoop Singh Bhullar. However, party again shown confidence in him and allotted the ticket.
However, in a surprising move party did not give ticket to sitting Nawanshahr MLA Angad Saini. His wife Aditi Singh, a Congress MLA from Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh, had joined the BJP last year.
