Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that the state is on threshold of complete transformation of education sector to benefit the students by carving out their bright future.
Bhagwant Mann, who flagged off second batch of teachers for training to Singapore here at MGSIPA, said that during the training these teachers will be equipped modren teaching practices prevalent abroad. He said that after their return these teachers will share the practices with students and their colleagues thereby ensuring that students get acquainted to the pattern of study on foreign shores. Bhagwant Mann envisioned that this will enable the students of the state to compete with their peers educated abroad.
CM said that this is a revolutionary step which will rejuvenate the entire education system of state for well being of students. He said that it is a proud moment for him as these teachers will act as agent of change in the education sector in the coming times. Bhagwant Mann expressed hope that this will bring the much needed qualitative change in the education system of the state by benefitting the students.
He said that it is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that most of these teachers are state or national awardees and have carved a niche for themselves in field of education. He said that the sole criteria to choose these teachers is merit so as to ensure that they play a vanguard role in education reform. Bhagwant Mann said that agreement has already been signed with them to depute them in any school across the state after the training.
CM said that a similar initiative that will go a long way in reforming the education is schools of eminence. He said that these schools will act as a catalyst to groom the students for the competitions ahead. Bhagwant Mann envisioned that these schools will become role model for other states and will be replicated across the country.
He said that the single aim of all these efforts is to reverse the trend of brain drain by making youth an active partner of socio- economic growth of the state. He said that Punjabi youth has huge potential due to which world acclaimed IT companies and Universities want to ink knowledge sharing agreement with the state. Bhagwant Mann said that as a matter of fact Punjab has emerged as a symbol of quality education across the country.
Mann said that the visit to Singapore will upgrading the professional knowledge and expertise of the teachers in the field of education. He said that this first of its kind initiative by the state government is part of the State scheme for teachers’ foreign training cleared by Cabinet recently and aims at ensuring that the professional skills of the teaching fraternity is enhanced, so that they can deliver best education to the students. Bhagwant Mann said that the sole aim of this step is to ensure quality education to the students of the government schools.
He said that this training will further widen the horizon of the teachers by equipping them with state-of-the-art teaching practices, leadership skills, creation of teaching-learning materials and audio-visual technology to meet objectives of Education in the post-Pandemic world, Essentials of Strategic Management, Shaping School Culture, Building Teachers’ Professional Capital, Curriculum Leadership, Mentoring, and Lesson Observation Skills, Innovation in Teaching and Learning and Effective Communication. He envisioned that this path breaking initiative will prove to be a milestone for reforming education system in the state. Bhagwant Mann said that the day is not far when with these efforts Punjab will soon become a front runner state in the field of education.
