New Delhi: The Government of India has allowed the purchase of wheat from Punjab by relaxing the norms of the standard fixed for procurement, but the price has been reduced on the purchase of such wheat.
The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has informed the Punjab government that it will treat all the crops coming to the market, but the price of ‘spoiled’ wheat will be reduced from Rs 5.31 to Rs 31.87 per quintal.
On the other hand, the Punjab government had earlier appealed that the price should be reduced without relaxation in the criteria for procurement of wheat.
