CBI conducts raids in three states including Punjab, arrests DGM in FCI scam

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) carried out simultaneous raids in three states – Delhi, Haryana and Punjab – in connection with the Food Corporation of India (FCI) scam. The CBI has raided a total of 50 locations.

The agency arrested FCI Deputy General Manager (DGM) Rajiv Kumar Mishra red-handed while accepting the bribe. After this, the raid was started.

The CBI has registered a case against 74 accused in the scam related to the Food Corporation of India. During the raid, the central investigation agency has recovered documents related to the case from different locations. Corrupt FCI officials and grain mill owners have been under the scanner of the CBI for a long time. After all preparations, the agency started action against them on Wednesday.

The agency suspects the role of technical assistants to executive directors in the alleged scam. It is being investigated. The raid was launched after the FCI DGM was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

After receiving the input, the CBI team raided several cities in Punjab and Haryana. Raids were also conducted at two places in Delhi.

The CBI had received several complaints about corruption in the FCI, after which the CBI was investigating it. For the last 6 months, the agency was collecting intelligence inputs in the case.
