Washington: The United States is witnessing severe cold and snow this year. More than 100,000 Americans were left without power in their homes due to the bomb cyclone, forcing them to live in darkness on Friday.
In fact, the winter snowstorm surrounded the country which closed highways, stopped flights and this dangerous weather also became a cause of trouble for Christmas passengers.
In heavy snowfall, the air is so cold that it immediately turns boiling water into ice. According to reports, 70 percent of the US population is under weather warnings.
“I can’t see across the street,” Jennifer Orlando, 39, said in Hamburg, New York. “We are not going anywhere,” he said, adding that there was a power outage for four hours after a vehicle collided with an electric wire on the highway.
According to tracker poweroutage, the severe cold is an immediate concern for hundreds of thousands of electricity customers who were without power.
Rosa Falcon, a school teacher and volunteer, said that in El Paso, Texas, desperate migrants from Mexico thronged churches, schools and a civic centre. But some still opted to stay out in -15 Fahrenheit temperatures because they fear immigration authorities.
