Chandigarh: Deputy Commissioner Patiala Sakshi Sahni said that acting on the directions of the Punjab Government to review all the arms licenses of the district within three months, 274 arms licenses have been suspended.
The Deputy Commissioner said that 274 arms licenses in the district have been suspended by issuing notices as to why they should not be cancelled as the arms holders did not deposit the excess weapons kept with them despite repeatedly giving them a chance.
DC said the district magistrate’s office has also shared a list of around 30,000 arms licences with the police department to check the arms licence holders with any criminal background or ill-treatment to ascertain whether they needed the arms licences issued or not.
