Chandigarh: Former Congress MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku, who recently joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has been named as its candidate for the Lok Sabha by-election in Jalandhar.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann extended his best wishes to Rinku. He was inducted into the AAP by party convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal yesterday.
Rinku’s name was already being considered for this seat. However, CM discussed it with his leaders before announcing it today, sources said.
Rinku was inducted into the party by CM Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday. On this occasion, Rinku had said that whatever responsibility the party gives him, he will perform it with full honesty. Rinku had also said that the decision to field him from here will only be taken by the party.
