Electricity Amendment Bill likely to be tabled in Parliament without states’ consent

New Delhi: In yet another attack on the federal structure, the central government is going to introduce the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 in Parliament today.

The government has reportedly not consulted the states on the amendment bill. Like the farm laws, no party has been involved in the discussion before introducing the Electricity Amendment Bill. The Punjab government is unaware of the Electricity Amendment Bill and its contents, officials said.

“Another attack on the rights of states… The Electricity Amendment Bill, 2022… We strongly oppose the introduction of this bill in Parliament… The Central Government does not consider the states as puppets, we will fight for our rights.. From the road to parliament, “Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said while threatening to launch stir against it.
