New Delhi: The Family Court (Amendment) Bill has been passed in the Rajya Sabha today.
The bill passed by an oral vote amid uproar by opposition members. The bill has already been passed in the Lok Sabha.
Responding to the discussion on the bill, Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju termed the setting up of family courts in every state and every district as the need of the hour and said that at present there are more than 11 lakh cases in these courts which need to be disposed of in time.
He said he would talk to state governments to open family courts in every district.
