Chandigarh: Olympian Varinder Singh passed away at Jalandhar today. Born on May 16, 1947, Varinder Singh was a player in the Indian hockey team who won a bronze medal at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich.
He also participated in the 1976 Summer Olympics. He also received the Dhyan Chand Award. His last rites will be decided by the family later.
