Chandigarh: Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on Monday said the fugitives should surrender before the law in connection with the escape of separatist Amritpal Singh. He also said that the hard-earned peace of the state will not be allowed to be disturbed. Yadav paid obeisance at the Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar today.
Talking to reporters, he said the police will arrest the absconders and it would be better if such absconders surrender to the law on their own. On reports of Amritpal Singh taking shelter at a religious place, the DGP said religious places should not be used for personal reasons.
“Today, I paid obeisance at Shri Darbar Sahib in #Amritsar and prayed for the peace & harmony of the state. Reviewed security arrangements for the upcoming #Baisakhi celebrations, @PunjabPoliceInd will keep #Punjab safe and secure,” DGP wrote in a tweet.
