Chandigarh: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested Inspector Baljit Singh of Punjab Police red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 7 lakh.
A spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said that Inspector Baljit Singh, traffic in-charge at Tarn Taran, was arrested on the complaint of Sharanjit Singh Jimmy, a resident of Model Town, Kharar (Mohali). The accused policeman was earlier also suspended in the NDPS case.
The accused policeman had earlier also been suspended in the NDPS case. The complainant approached the VB alleging that the policeman was demanding a bribe of Rs 1,000,000 lakh for exempting his father and mother from appearance in a court case, he said.
The policeman has demanded that the bribe amount be paid in two installments of Rs 7 lakh and Rs 3 lakh.

A case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the inspector at VB police station Flying Squad-1, Mohali and further action has been initiated.
