Chandigarh: BJP’s Anup Gupta became the new Mayor of Chandigarh by defeating AAP’s Jasbir Singh Laddi here today. The BJP got 15 votes and the AAP got 14 votes.
A total of 29 votes were polled. MP Kirron Kher was the first to cast her vote. In the corporation, the BJP has 15 votes, including that of an MP, while the opposition Aam Aadmi Party has 14 votes of its councillors.
The Congress did not participate in the election. The Shiromani Akali Dal, which has only one councillor, also did not participate in the election process.
