ISLAMABAD: Heavy rains in Pakistan have claimed 282 lives since June 14, while over 200 have been injured.
The National Disaster Management Authority said 160 women and children were among the dead. According to news agency Xinhua, about 5,500 houses and several bridges have been damaged due to rains across the country.
According to the NDMA, most of the damage has been in the southwestern region of Balochistan, where at least 88 people have died and about 62 have been injured. Similarly, 67 deaths have been reported in Sindh region, 57 in East Punjab, while 14 deaths have been reported in northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region.
