Washington: An Asian student has been attacked in Indiana University. According to the New York Post, an American woman stabbed an 18-year-old student in the head. Police said the victim was standing and waiting for the exit gate to open in the Bloomington Transit bus when another passenger started hitting her on the head.
There was no conversation between the two women before the attack. The NY Post report said that until hospital staff found seven stab wounds on the victim’s head, the accused was controlled with a battery rod.
On Thursday, the police questioned the accused again. It was not immediately clear whether she would also be charged with a hate crime. Police said the cause of the attack was not entirely clear. Police alleged that Davis suddenly attacked her while the student was waiting for the door to open.
One witness also followed Davis. “This week, anti-Asian hate in Bloomington has been real, which can have a painful impact on individuals and our community,” James Winbush, Indiana University Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs, said in a statement.
“No one should face harassment or violence because of their background, ethnicity or heritage, instead, Bloomington and IU communities are strong because of the vast diversity of identities and perspectives that make up our campus and community culture.”
